Lhyfe and H2 MOBILITY Deutschland have signed a five-year agreement for the supply of over 1,200 tonnes of green hydrogen.
The hydrogen will be produced from renewable energies at Lhyfe‘s Schwäbisch Gmünd site in Baden-Württemberg.
This contract marks Lhyfe’s first long-term agreement on the German market, and targets four hydrogen refueling stations located in the states of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.
First deliveries are scheduled for 2025.
This agreement comes at a time whenGermany is accelerating its adoption of hydrogen as an energy carrier for transport.
The Ludwigshafen and Frankenthal stations will be the first to benefit from this supply, reinforcing H2 MOBILITY Deutschland’s existing network.

Expansion of hydrogen fuelling network in Germany

H2 MOBILITY Deutschland, which currently operates around 80 hydrogen refueling stations, plans to increase this capacity with additional sites currently under development.
These stations serve hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, capable of refueling at 700 bar for cars and light commercial vehicles, and 350 bar for buses and trucks.
The expansion is aligned with the growing demand for alternative fuels in the transport sector.
Lhyfe’s green hydrogen supply for these new stations is part of a drive to strengthen energy independence and diversify energy sources, while optimizing existing infrastructures.
The new facilities will be strategically located along high-demand transport corridors, notably those of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

Green hydrogen production and logistics

The hydrogen supplied by Lhyfe will be produced by electrolysis of water from renewable energy sources, thus qualifying as “Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin” (RFNBO).
Lhyfe’s Schwäbisch Gmünd site, currently under development, will play a central role in this supply.
Production at this site is designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for green hydrogen in Germany, while integrating into existing logistics networks.
Deliveries of this hydrogen will be made mainly by trailer, a strategic choice that provides greater flexibility and optimizes transport costs.
This approach supports H2 MOBILITY Deutschland’s objectives in terms of energy efficiency and cost reduction in the supply chain.

Outlook for green hydrogen in Germany

The agreement between Lhyfe and H2 MOBILITY Deutschland represents a milestone in the consolidation of green hydrogen supplies for transport infrastructure in Germany.
Market players are striving to develop strategic partnerships to secure supply chains and maximize investment efficiency.
Initiatives such as this long-term agreement are essential to support the development of hydrogen as a viable energy alternative in the European economic landscape.
