Huasun Energy, a global leader in the manufacturing of heterojunction (HJT) photovoltaic products, has announced a strategic partnership with ITRAMAS Corporation Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia’s largest integrated solar developer, to deploy 1.5 GW of photovoltaic projects. This agreement was formalized during the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2024, marking a significant milestone for the solar sector in Malaysia.

A strategic partnership for the energy transition

In the presence of Malaysia’s Minister of Economic Affairs, YB Tuan Mohd Rafizi Bin Ramli, the two companies signed memorandums of understanding (MoU). Under this agreement, Huasun will gradually supply ITRAMAS with high-performance HJT solar modules exceeding 700W starting in 2025 for its large-scale projects. This partnership aims to integrate cutting-edge photovoltaic technologies in Malaysia, strengthening the local solar supply chain while contributing to the energy transition goals of the country and the wider ASEAN region.

A favorable context for solar energy in Malaysia

Malaysia, with its ideal climate for solar power generation, abundant sunlight, and extended sunshine hours, is a promising market for photovoltaic projects. In July 2023, the Malaysian government unveiled the first phase of its National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), aiming to increase renewable energy to 70% of the total energy mix by 2050, with solar power contributing 58%. This legislative framework has bolstered the interest of solar sector players, including Huasun and ITRAMAS, who demonstrated their support at IGEM 2024.

The key role of ITRAMAS in the energy transition

ITRAMAS, already operating over 200 MW of solar projects in Malaysia, plans to expand its activities to 1.5 GW through this partnership with Huasun. Its commitment to renewable energy development and energy infrastructure places the company at the heart of the country’s efforts to meet its decarbonation goals by 2050.

Huasun, a global leader in HJT technology

With a production capacity of 20 GW of HJT products, Huasun is positioned as the world’s largest manufacturer of this technology. To date, the company has supplied more than 7 GW of HJT products to over 40 countries. This collaboration with ITRAMAS will provide next-generation solar modules, optimizing energy efficiency and actively contributing to Malaysia’s energy transition.
