Havfram has announced the signing of a major contract with Iberdrola for the installation of 21 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines as part of the Windanker project in the German Baltic Sea. This project, with an installed capacity of 315 MW, will make a significant contribution to renewable electricity generation in Germany. Commissioning is scheduled for 2026, and most of the electricity produced will be sold on the German market via long-term power purchase agreements (PPA).

Even Larsen, CEO of Havfram Wind, expressed his satisfaction: “Iberdrola is one of the most experienced developers in the market and has demonstrated a strong commitment to renewable energy solutions. Havfram is proud to support Iberdrola’s offshore wind ambitions and their efforts to mitigate climate change.”

Technical and logistical details

The contract covers the transport and installation of the wind turbines, which will be carried out by one of Havfram’s new NG20000X-HF wind turbine installation vessels. The installation phase will begin in summer 2026.

Martin Degen, Havfram’s Commercial Director and Vice President, emphasized the efficiency of the procurement process with Iberdrola: “The procurement process with Iberdrola was pragmatic and straightforward, as both organizations share rigorous standards of quality and sustainability. Being selected as the T&I partner for Windanker, Iberdrola’s third Baltic Sea project, proves our established position in the market.”

Economic and environmental impact

The Windanker project is part of Iberdrola’s wider strategy to increase its offshore wind power capacity. Iberdrola currently operates 1,793 MW of offshore wind capacity and is building a further 3,000 MW. This project will not only contribute to the production of clean energy, but also to job creation and economic development in the region. Havfram, meanwhile, continues to strengthen its order book with ambitious, long-term projects.

Future prospects

Havfram and Iberdrola are working closely together to ensure the success of this project. The completion of Windanker marks an important milestone for both companies, and for the renewable energy sector in general. With renewable energies on the rise, these projects are essential if we are to meet our carbon reduction and energy transition targets.
