Collaboration for the CCS
ExxonMobil and MIH join forces to deploy MHI’s advanced carbon capture technology. This is part of ExxonMobil’s comprehensive CCS solution for industrial customers. The companies thus bring complementary capabilities to facilitate industry decarbonization projects.
The companies agree to leverage their combined experience to advance carbon capture technologies. The ultimate goal is to reduce the cost of CO2 capture for high-emitting industrial customers. The joint effort will leverage MHI’s KM CDR Process and Advanced KM CDR Process.
Proven technology
This carbon capture technology is the only liquid amine-based technology with a confirmed commercial track record of over one million tons per year. ExxonMobil and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are both major players in CCS technologies and have extensive experience. The first has more than 30 years of experience in the capture and transport of CO2 and its injection into geological formations.
MHI is the world’s largest licensor of post-combustion CO2 capture technology. The company has 14 commercial CO2 capture installations to its credit. In addition, MHI is committed to building an ecosystem of innovative solutions for a carbon-neutral future as part of its “Mission Net Zero”.
