Airlines for Europe (A4E), the organization representing the continent's major airline groups, called on the European Union on Thursday to postpone a key deadline under the RefuelEU regulation. At issue: the obligation to incorporate 1.2% of synthetic jet fuel, called eSAF (synthetic aviation fuel), into commercial aircraft fuel tanks by 2030. The association deems the target "not achievable," citing still embryonic industrial production and prohibitive costs. The statement was made during a press conference in Brussels.
