Enel announced on Tuesday an ambitious asset sale plan aimed at reducing its net debt by the end of the year.
Sale of assets in Romania
Enel has entered into exclusive talks with Greece’s PPC to sell its Romanian operations, which could be worth more than €1 billion. According to Enel’s CEO, Francesco Starace, this process should be concluded by the end of June.
Sale of assets in Argentina and Peru
Enel is also in the process of selling assets in Argentina and Peru. General Manager Starace said they were “close” to selecting a preferred bidder in Argentina. In Latin America, the talks also concern certain Chilean solar assets owned by Enel, according to sources close to the matter.
Final objective
The final goal is to focus on six main markets: Italy, Spain, the United States, Brazil, Chile and Colombia.
