Alpiq has announced the sale of its Bulgarian wind farm Vetrocom, Alpiq Energia Bulgaria, and Alpiq Wind Services to Renalfa, thus continuing its strategy of geographical concentration on its core markets.

Alpiq sells its Vetrocom wind farm to Renalfa

The Bulgarian company built the Vetrocom wind farm near the town of Kazanlak, 200 km east of Sofia. The sale is subject to customary closing conditions, including the approval of competition authorities.

With the sale of Alpiq, Renalfa has acquired the Vetrocom wind farm. With a capacity of 72.5 megawatts (MW), it produces an average of 135 gigawatt hours (GWh) of climate-friendly electricity per year.

Alpiq Wind Services is primarily responsible for the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the Vetrocom wind farm. Alpiq Energia Bulgaria is optimizing the sale of electricity generated by the wind farm. It also optimizes the purchase and sale of control energy in relation to Vetrocom and for third-party assets.

“Alpiq is proud of more than a decade of successful ownership and operation of one of the largest wind farms in Bulgaria. I am delighted to hand over Vetrocom and the strong local team to Renalfa, who will continue to build on this success,” says Lukas Gresnigt, Head of Alpiq’s International Business Division.
