ADNOC is studying a project for a bunkering station on the Emirati coast.
The site could be located in Fujairah or Jebel Ari.
ADNOC pleads for a new bunkering site
The Persian Gulf lacks gas bunkering points.
A situation that Samuel Lazar, Shipping Manager at ADNOC Logistics & Services, has been denouncing since last year.
On Wednesday December 15, 2021, he told S&P Global Platts that the company was considering a new bunkering project.
ADNOC sees Fujairah and Jebel Ari as two possibilities for a ship refueling site.
Especially as the company already has a crude oil storage site in Fujairah.
Increasing the fleet of natural gas-powered vessels
In addition, if a bunkering site were built, shipowners could acquire new gas-powered units.
The head of ADNOC Logistics & Services adds that cruise ship owners have already placed orders.
ADNOC also announced earlier this year that it would be expanding its maritime fleet to distribute its production.
The company aims to increase its production capacity by 25% by 2030, to 5 million barrels per day.
The aim is to find a way to supply the new ships with natural gas.
In addition, the company has already increased its fleet by 16 new vessels by 2020.
