ACCIONA Energía recently signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with global medical technology leader Zimmer Biomet to supply it with 100% renewable electricity in Spain for 12 years. The energy will come from the Cristo Bailones hybrid photovoltaic plant, which will be built in the province of Ciudad Real and is expected to come into operation at the end of 2024.

Zimmer Biomet Achieves Decarbonization Goals

The contract marks a significant step towards a more sustainable energy model for Zimmer Biomet in Europe and will contribute to its transition to green energy. “We are proud of the investments to offset our carbon emissions in the U.S. and are excited to extend this commitment to our European operations,” said Keri P. Mattox, director of communications and administration at Zimmer Biomet.

The Cristo Bailones hybrid plant offers several advantages

ACCIONA Energía is constantly seeking to increase the volume of new contracts and short and long term PPAs that it offers to client companies. The signing of the PPA will allow the final customer to have access to competitive and less expensive renewable energy thanks to innovative solutions such as the Cristo Bailones hybrid photovoltaic plant.
