It won two major contracts for offshore wind projects: the Baltic Power project in the Baltic Sea and Greater Changhua 2b and 4 in Taiwan. Baltic Power: Poland’s first offshore wind farm

The Baltic Power project is a significant milestone for Poland, marking the advent of its first offshore wind farm. Developed in partnership between ORLEN (Poland) and Northland Power (Canada), it will occupy an exclusive zone in the Baltic Sea, 23 kilometers off the Polish coast.

Van Oord’s key role in the Baltic Power Project

With 76 wind turbines and a total capacity of 1.14GW, Baltic Power will supply renewable energy to over 1.5 million Polish households. Van Oord will transport and install 78 foundations, including 76 for the wind turbines.

Energy potential of the Baltic Sea

The project embodies the Baltic Sea’s enormous potential for offshore wind power. Van Oord’s installation vessel, the Svanen, is specially designed for Baltic Sea conditions and has already been used in several similar projects.
At the same time, the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 project in Taiwan marks Van Oord’s international expansion. This project, coupled with Baltic Power, will supply around 2.5 million households with clean energy.
