RIX Industries will power North American and European infrastructure using Element 1 Corp (e1) hydrogen technology.

The activity of RIX Industries

RIX Industries, in California, designs, develops and manufactures compressors and generators for industrial gases. It is particularly active in the maritime and aerospace fields. In addition, it is actively participating in the decarbonization of these markets through increasingly sustainable technologies.

Recently, RIX Industries was involved in hydrogen systems for infrastructure and mobility. Since 2020, the company has licensed Element 1 Corp.’s M-Series mobile hydrogen generators. But with the MVHydrogen One project, RIX would take a new step in the deployment of its mobile hydrogen methanol generation systems.

Thus, for the first time, methanol/hydrogen fuel cells could power a tugboat. Recently, the company extended its license for Element 1 Corp.’s methanol-based hydrogen generator technology. The use of such a production method is rare but it has the advantage of producing hydrogen on demand.

Features of this technology

Hydrogen on demand offers a stable and sustainable power supply for so-called “critical” installations. These include utilities, telecommunications and data center operations. Indeed, this technology overcomes the limitations of traditional hydrogen production by allowing flexible production.

Thus, its carbon footprint is low unlike pure hydrogen storage. RIX chose e1’s S series hydrogen generators because of their uniqueness. Nevertheless, RIX announces the use of the e1 methanol-hydrogen generator in combination with PEM fuel cells.

Bryan Reid, Director of Sales at RIX, states:

“Regulatory mandates combined with corporate sustainability initiatives are driving a massive migration to clean power systems, many of which use hydrogen fuel cells. Reducing emissions is a growing global priority, and significant progress toward net zero can be made today. Hydrogen storage and management issues are easily solved by integrating on-demand hydrogen production into clean energy solutions.”

This will make it easier for it to respond to highly evolving energy demands. In addition, it guarantees high energy efficiency.
