NovaWind is developing wind power in Dagestan. Rosatom’s wind power division has signed a cooperation agreement with the government of Dagestan.

NovaWind commits to Dagestan

This agreement provides for the development of renewable energy in Dagestan. In addition, it includes cooperation for the realization of wind energy projects. The capacity of the latter will reach 315 MW.

Grigoriy Nazarov, CEO of NovaWind, says:

“This cooperation agreement opens up new opportunities for the delivery of wind energy projects. We have extensive expertise in the construction and operation of wind farms. Our wind power plants generate electricity in three regions of southern Russia. The construction of wind farms in the Republic of Dagestan will improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply in the region and make a significant contribution to Russia’s carbon neutrality goals. I hope our cooperation will be effective.”

For his part, Sergey Melikov, head of the Republic of Dagestan, is pleased. He emphasizes the important potential in terms of electricity production. In fact, Dagestan is increasing its efforts to develop wind and solar power.

He comments:

“We are familiar with NovaWind’s work in other regions, including Adygea and Stavropol Krai. Partnering with such an important company will help us take full advantage of our natural resources for the benefit of Dagestan and local communities.”

For Dagestan, this agreement with NovaWind should make it possible to fight against power cuts. Also, these projects will help develop the region’s economy and create new jobs.
