Tanmiah Food Company signed three memorandums of understanding with Schneider Electric, Strataphy, and Kayes Arabia to enhance energy efficiency across its operations and support the Kingdom’s industrial strategy. The announcements were made during the Saudi Agri-Food Tech Alliance (SAFTA) Annual Forum, held at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture headquarters in Riyadh.
An agreement with Schneider Electric for a low-carbon supply chain
The agreement with Schneider Electric includes the development of a full carbon inventory covering Tanmiah’s entire operations. This work will be conducted under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), incorporating Forest, Land and Agriculture (FLAG) guidance. The partnership aims to set measurable emission reduction targets while engaging the company’s suppliers in capacity-building and implementation support initiatives.
First geothermal poultry project in the region
In parallel, Tanmiah unveiled the launch of the region’s first poultry facility cooled by geothermal energy, located at its Shaqrah site. The project will be developed with Saudi start-up Strataphy under a Cooling as a Service (CaaS) model. The technology offers a scalable system designed to reduce the carbon footprint of production infrastructure while maintaining consistent energy performance.
Conversion from diesel to liquefied gas systems
A third memorandum of understanding was signed with Kayes Arabia to convert diesel-powered agricultural and industrial equipment to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) systems. The aim is to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, and lower operational costs associated with conventional fuel use at the company’s farms and processing facilities.
Zulfiqar Hamadani, Chief Executive Officer of Tanmiah Food Company, stated that these joint projects are part of a broader approach to combine technological innovation with measurable outcomes, aligning the company’s operations with the economic goals of Vision 2030.
