VSB France, a producer of electricity from renewable sources, has officially started construction of the “Éoliennes du Pays d’Auge” wind farm in the Calvados department. With a total capacity of 39.9 megawatts (MW), the project is the company’s largest onshore wind investment to date in France.
A structured deployment across two municipalities
The wind farm is located in the municipalities of Norrey-en-Auge and Barou-en-Auge, with four turbines installed in the former and three in the latter. The selected turbines are Nordex N149 models, each delivering 5.7 MW. The site will generate 70 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 35,000 people, according to data released by VSB France.
Operational timeline and internal execution
Construction began in September 2025 and will continue throughout 2026. Technical commissioning is planned for 2027. The company will internally manage the construction phases and future operation of the site. Two charters have been signed with partner companies, one covering safety commitments, the other addressing operational procedures on site.
Land optimisation and dialogue with residents
The project underwent several adjustments following a consultation phase led with the Demopolis consultancy. Among the implemented changes are the planting of three kilometres of hedgerows and the conversion of five hectares of monoculture into fallow land, in line with local integration efforts. These changes stemmed from discussions held with residents and local authorities in both municipalities.
A growth strategy led from France
The wind farm represents a key step in VSB France’s investment strategy in the national market. The company is strengthening its footprint in the onshore wind sector, a segment the group views as having strong potential. “With this project, we are reaching a major milestone for VSB France,” said Felix Grolman, Chief Executive Officer of VSB Group, who emphasised the importance of partnership with local stakeholders in the group’s expansion strategy in France.
