Independent electricity producer VSB France has announced the commissioning of the La Lande wind farm, located in the municipalities of Dingé and Tinténiac in the Ille-et-Vilaine department. Comprising four Nordex N117 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3 megawatts (MW), the farm has a total installed capacity of 12 MW. It was sold in August 2023 to Blue EnerFreeze, the energy subsidiary of cold logistics group STEF.

According to data provided by the operator, the farm’s output corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of 12,000 inhabitants. It is also expected to prevent approximately 7 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. The first electricity injections into the grid occurred at the end of September 2024.

Industrial partnership and local development

VSB France managed the full development, construction and technical operations of the site on behalf of Blue EnerFreeze. The company mobilised its local teams, particularly its Rennes office, during the construction phase. Several regional firms were involved, including Lessard TP for earthworks, and the Rennes division of Bouygues Energies & Services for additional technical work.

Low-carbon consumption target for Blue EnerFreeze

The electricity produced by the La Lande wind farm contributes to Blue EnerFreeze’s energy strategy, which aims to source 100% of the energy needs for its food storage facilities from low-carbon sources by the end of 2025. The farm’s output is expected to cover 6% of the French annual consumption of the STEF Group’s energy subsidiary.

The commissioning of the wind farm also aligns with VSB France’s growth strategy. Now a subsidiary of TotalEnergies, VSB’s integration into the French major’s portfolio supports a target of reaching 100 terawatt-hours (TWh) of net electricity production by 2030, leveraging industrial partnerships and energy assets across multiple territories.
