Voltalia wins CfDs in the UK. These are for the Clifton and Higher Stockbridge projects, both solar projects.
Solar energy is growing in the UK
Indeed, in the context of the energy crisis, the United Kingdom intends to accelerate its energy transition. Thus, the country multiplies the projects.
Voltalia was awarded 20-year contracts for two solar projects of 45 MW each. They will be in service in the last half of 2023 for Clifton Solar and in the first half of 2024 for Higher Stockbridge. Thus, through these two projects, it will provide renewable energy to some 50,790 people.
Sébastien Clerc, CEO of Voltalia, comments:
“They underscore our commitment to the UK market and our support for the country’s ambition to generate 95% of its electricity in low-carbon form by 2030. These projects demonstrate that solar projects can be deployed quickly, which can help rebalance the electricity market.”
Voltalia strengthens its position in the country
An international player in renewable energy, Voltalia has been operating in the United Kingdom since 2012. Since then, it has continued to strengthen its presence in this market. Its portfolio in the country includes 5 solar and storage facilities, at different stages of development, representing a total of 179 MW.
In addition, in 2020, Voltalia signed a PPA with City of London Corporation for a period of 15 years. The energy will be produced by the South Farm solar power plant, currently under construction. It is to have a capacity of 49.9 MW.
