VoltaGrid, a provider of distributed energy solutions, and Halliburton, a global service company for the energy industry, have signed an agreement to develop electricity generation systems for data centres. This partnership will initially target the growing markets of the Middle East, identified as strategic for digital infrastructure expansion.
Targeted deployment in emerging markets
The collaboration will make joint use of turbines, reciprocating engines, and VoltaGrid’s proprietary QPac platform. These systems are intended to provide on-site power, meeting the increasing reliability demands of data centres while integrating lower-emission technologies. The partnership follows a vertically integrated approach, offering turnkey solutions tailored to regional needs.
Halliburton will contribute its global presence, execution capabilities, and knowledge of local regulatory frameworks. VoltaGrid will focus on technical design, engineering of its patented systems, and procurement. This division of roles is intended to accelerate deployment and meet growing demand for secure, autonomous power supply.
An industrial response to digital demand
According to both companies, the global data centre market presents a major opportunity for distributed energy. The continued expansion of computing capacity, especially for cloud and artificial intelligence applications, increases pressure on traditional grid infrastructure. The modular approach promoted by VoltaGrid and Halliburton could bypass national network constraints while ensuring rapid implementation.
The project draws on VoltaGrid’s experience in energy services for hyperscale clients and Halliburton’s operational capacity in complex environments. The two firms rely on strong operational complementarity to secure projects and strengthen their presence in high-growth regions.
Strengthened positioning in a shifting segment
The choice of the Middle East as a launch zone is driven by the emergence of digital hubs and rising investment in data hosting. Governments in the region are launching initiatives to attract global tech players, thereby increasing demand for reliable and quickly deployable power.
Jeff Miller, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Halliburton, stated that the partnership would “bring innovative power generation technologies to the global energy marketplace.” Nathan Ough, Chief Executive Officer of VoltaGrid, said the alliance marks a key step in the company’s international strategy.
