Vallourec has been selected to supply over 30,000 tonnes of casing, production and pipeline pipes for TotalEnergies as part of the AGUP2 (Associated Gas Upstream Project 2) in Iraq. This order is part of the second phase of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP), a major energy initiative operated by TotalEnergies in partnership with Basra Oil Company and QatarEnergy.

AGUP2 aims to develop oil and associated gas production at the Ratawi field, located in southern Iraq. The project plans the drilling of 48 new wells, targeting a production capacity of 210,000 barrels of oil per day and 154 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day. The volumes supplied by Vallourec also include approximately 3,000 tonnes of premium pipelines with anti-corrosion coating to improve the durability of the installations.

A long-term strategic industrial partnership

Vallourec had already been mobilised for an initial delivery of around 15,000 tonnes of pipes during the drilling of the first 30 wells. The French group is reinforcing its position as a preferred supplier of premium tubular solutions, thanks to its VAM® technology developed to meet the operational constraints of the Iraqi subsurface.

The GGIP project is based on a 4-in-1 integrated approach aimed at maximising the value of the country’s energy resources. It combines the recovery of flared gas from three oil fields, the expansion of the Ratawi field, the construction of a 1 GWac (1.25 GWp) solar power plant, and the development of a seawater treatment facility for industrial use.

Deliveries scheduled to support the drilling ramp-up

The additional volumes supplied by Vallourec will be used throughout the phased drilling schedule over several years. The pipes and accessories will be manufactured at the group’s industrial sites in Europe and the Middle East, in line with the project’s logistical requirements.

This development is part of TotalEnergies’ strategy to support the increase of local energy supply while enhancing the reliability of its extraction and processing infrastructure. The involvement of industrial partners such as Vallourec ensures the technical performance of operations on a high-value oil field.

Philippe Guillemot, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Vallourec, stated that this new contract “confirms the strength of our long-standing partnership and our ability to deliver high-performance and reliable tubular solutions”.
