Lynher Energy, a joint venture between Napier Park Global Capital and Ethical Power, focuses on the development and management of solar power generation and battery storage. In collaboration with Low Carbon Alliance and Cheswell Grange, they recently completed a new solar project called Twitch Hill Solar Farm.
Twitch Hill: Trees and solar panels for balanced green energy production
This new solar facility provides clean, renewable energy to the electrical grid, supplying the equivalent electricity to approximately 5,750 homes per year and potentially saving 8,150 tons of CO2 emissions each year from energy production alone.
Located on 36 hectares of mostly unused Grade 3b agricultural land between Lilleshall and Newport, the Twitch Hill Solar Farm is repurposing unused land for solar farm development. To maximize land use, sheep will graze under and between the proposed solar panels. In addition to clean, renewable energy, the project provides nearly 3.5 km of new hedgerows, as well as other mitigation and enhancement measures.
The proposed design includes a species-rich wildflower meadow and strategic reforestation and tree planting, creating new habitats for farmland and woodland bird species and providing a significant net gain in biodiversity across the site.
Twitch Hill: A solar farm that contributes to the UK’s carbon neutrality
The Twitch Hill Solar Farm aligns with the long-term business strategy of investing in sustainable green infrastructure. Chris Sparrow, Director at Napier Park, comments, “We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Ethical Power to ensure the high quality construction of the project and maximize the value of our investment.” Low Carbon Alliance is proud to support its clients at Cheswell Grange by securing the sale of the solar installation as part of their regenerative and environmental plans, while delivering projects that support the UK’s carbon neutrality goals.
Neil and Susanna Harley of Cheswell Grange added, “We are thrilled to have finalized the sale of the solar facility on our property, which will help combat climate change and help secure the future of the business for us, our children and our employees in a difficult environment for farmers.”
Indeed, the Twitch Hill Solar Farm is a valuable addition to the expanding portfolio of solar power generation and battery storage in the UK. This new renewable energy project has significant environmental benefits, providing clean, renewable energy, while creating new habitat for farmland and woodland bird species, offering a significant net gain in biodiversity across the site. The project is a testament to the successful partnership between Low Carbon Alliance, Cheswell Grange and Lynher Energy.
