TWAICE, a company specialising in predictive analytics software for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), has announced a three-year partnership with independent operator Fullmark Energy. The agreement involves integrating the Battery Storage Analytics platform across four installations totalling 290 MWh, located in Southern California within the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) market zone.

Digital tools supporting operational management

Fullmark Energy is already using TWAICE technology at its “Johanna” site, a 20 MW/80 MWh installation in Santa Ana. The three other sites involved in the rollout — with individual capacities ranging from 40 MWh to 130 MWh — will be connected to the platform as they become commercially operational. This expansion reflects a broader trend of incorporating digital tools into storage asset management, in response to increasingly complex operational and regulatory requirements.

Automating analysis and market compliance

The TWAICE platform converts BESS system data into actionable operational indicators, allowing engineers and asset managers to monitor state of charge in real time, identify causes of stranded energy, and generate clear reports. These features are designed to meet CAISO’s delivery compliance requirements while improving the profitability of the facilities.

Optimising workforce allocation in site management

According to Fullmark Energy, the solution allows lean teams to manage complex storage portfolios without the need for expanded manpower. Chris Swanson, Director of Performance Engineering, stated that TWAICE’s tools enable a single operator to manage an entire BESS site while maintaining CAISO compliance.

Nicholas Peri, Vice President of Asset Management and Operations, added that the clarity of insights provided by the platform supports communication with financial stakeholders. He indicated that this visibility improves decision-making and strengthens investor confidence.
