A team of researchers from Nanchang University and solar module manufacturer Trina Solar has published a study on the effects of ultraviolet-induced degradation (UVID) on the performance of tunnel oxide passivating contact (TOPCon) photovoltaic modules. The results, published in the journal Solar Energy, indicate that this type of module displays metastable resilience under real-world conditions. According to Zhiwei Li, the study's lead author, field tests confirm that UVID in TOPCon cells constitutes a light-recoverable metastable effect, with no impact on actual energy production. These findings aim to strengthen investor confidence and bankability of photovoltaic projects.
