Titan Group, a major player in the renewable energies sector, recently announced a significant investment of 300 million euros to build a new monopile production plant in Cuxhaven, Germany. This initiative is part of the company’s strategy to address capacity challenges in the offshore wind energy supply chain. Construction of this plant will start in mid-2024, and will include two halls for welding and coating, as well as floor preparation to support the heavy loads of the monopile production processes. Chinese companies continue to invest in wind turbine construction in Europe, despite a European Union investigation into Chinese wind turbine manufacturers.
A 320,000 square-meter storage area is also under construction. Favourable port conditions and available space are essential elements for Titan Group, enabling not only production, but also storage and logistics of the monopiles.
According to Junxu Yan, CEO and founder of Titan Group, “the investment decision for Titan Wind Energy GmbH in Cuxhaven is an important step in our strategy of global expansion in offshore wind power”. The plant will produce monopiles up to 14 meters in diameter, 140 meters in length and 3,500 tonnes, to meet international targets for offshore wind farm expansion. With an annual production capacity of over 500,000 tonnes, Titan Wind Energy GmbH aims to supply the offshore wind energy markets of the North Sea, the Baltic Sea and the USA.
Impact on the wind power industry in Germany and Europe
The investment in this new plant is crucial to increasing the production capacity required by the offshore wind industry in Germany and Europe. Stefan Wenzel, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action, emphasizes that this investment is also an essential step in Germany’s industrial transformation.
Founded in 2005 in Suzhou, China, Titan Wind is primarily engaged in the production and sale of wind towers, blades, turbine foundations, offshore substations and other wind power generation equipment. Over the years, the company has expanded its global footprint with three production facilities in Europe, including a tower plant in Varde, Denmark, a surface treatment plant in Esbjerg, Denmark, and an offshore foundation facility in Cuxhaven, Germany.
Future prospects and global expansion
With this investment, Titan Group strengthens its position in the global renewable energies market and demonstrates its commitment to the energy transition. The new Cuxhaven plant is set to play a crucial role in expanding production capacity to support the growing demand for offshore wind energy. By working closely with its future customers, Titan Group is positioning itself to achieve today’s wind energy objectives.
The expansion of Titan Wind Energy GmbH’s production capacity reflects the rapid evolution of the renewable energy sector and the growing importance of infrastructure investment to support a global energy transition. The creation of 600 jobs in Cuxhaven is also a positive factor for the local and regional economy, contributing to a more sustainable future.
In summary, Titan Group’s investment in Cuxhaven marks a major step towards increasing production capacity for offshore wind power, supporting energy transition objectives worldwide.
