LS Power, a key player in the North American energy infrastructure sector, has completed the acquisition of the renewable energy assets of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. This transaction marks a strategic advancement in renewable energy, with 3,000 megawatts (MW) added to its portfolio.

Strengthening Renewable Energy Capacities

The 44 acquired projects include wind and solar installations located across the United States and Canada. This acquisition increases LS Power’s total capacity to more than 23,000 MW, spread across renewable energy, energy storage, and flexible generation.

To manage these new assets, LS Power has created Clearlight Energy, a dedicated entity led by Jeff Norman, the former president of renewables at Algonquin. Clearlight Energy will focus on managing and developing the acquired projects, including 1,800 MW from a pipeline of initiatives based in North America.

REV Renewables Expands Its Reach

Meanwhile, REV Renewables, a subsidiary of LS Power, takes over 6,200 MW of additional development projects within the United States. This significantly strengthens its portfolio, which already includes nearly 2,900 MW of operational wind, solar, and energy storage assets.

According to Ed Sondey, CEO of REV Renewables, this expansion aligns with an ambitious strategy to transform the U.S. energy system sustainably by increasing renewable solutions.

These initiatives confirm LS Power’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for clean energy while actively contributing to large-scale energy transition efforts.
