EDF Renewables and the Nicollin Group announce the commissioning of the Saint-Romain-en-Gal solar power plant. This park contributes to the revalorization of a former waste storage facility, and to the energy transition of the territory.
A first in the Rhône
The solar power plant has a capacity of 5 MWp. It consists of 9,500 panels and will produce enough low-carbon electricity each year to meet the needs of about 3,000 residents. Under development since 2018, this solar power plant is the first ground-mounted photovoltaic plant commissioned in the department.
The solar power plant project was supported by the region to the tune of €100,000 as part of a participatory financing. In 2021, the solar power plant of Saint-Romain-en-Gal obtained the label “Positive Biodiversity”. It is a set of environmental measures for the preservation of biodiversity.
The planting of a hedge reconstitutes an ecological corridor. This project is part of the EDF Group’s desire to become a leader in solar energy in France by 2035. While the Nicollin group wants to be a player in the ecological transition of the regional territory.
