On this occasion, the commission symbolically inaugurated a renewable gas infrastructure.

An important investment

The members of the Commission state:

“Europe has great potential for the production of biomethane, a green alternative to natural gas.”

The sector is ready to reach the target of 35 billion cubic meters, but this requires €70 to €80 billion of investments. The technical launch of the industrial partnership will take place on October 25.

The commission, in the framework of its REpowerEU plan, proposes to accelerate the development of renewable energies. Biomethane and the industrial partnership must allow us to decarbonize our energy system. It is one of the main renewable gases.
