Suzlon wins a 1,166 MW order from NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), the renewable energy subsidiary of NTPC Limited.
This project focuses on the installation of 370 S144 wind turbines, with a capacity of 3.15 MW each, spread over three sites in the state of Gujarat.
These new installations are designed to support NTPC’s goal of reaching 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032.
This contract marks a key milestone for NTPC in the renewable energy sector, and reflects a significant investment strategy in wind power.
By combining Suzlon’s skills as a supplier of equipment and services, NGEL seeks to further diversify its portfolio and optimize its green energy production capabilities.

Expansion strategy in the wind power sector

The supply includes equipment, erection, commissioning and post-installation maintenance of the wind turbines.
The projects will be divided between NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NGEL, and IndianOil NTPC Green Energy Pvt.
Ltd, a joint venture.
This order strengthens NTPC’s position as a major player in renewable energy in India, while increasing Gujarat’s wind generation capacity.
NTPC’s decision to collaborate with Suzlon is based on the desire to maximize the efficiency of its new installations.
The order also supports local industry and the supply chain by strengthening domestic equipment production.

Impact on India’s energy policy

This project is part of India’s national strategy to diversify its energy sources and strengthen its energy security.
The addition of wind power capacity is a response to growing energy demand and the need to stabilize the power grid.
For NTPC, this initiative represents a direct response to the government’s renewable energy objectives.
With this order, NTPC is not just adding capacity.
The company is also demonstrating its ability to play a pivotal role in the country’s energy mix by fostering strategic partnerships with key players in the sector.

A strong signal for the renewable energies market

The partnership between Suzlon and NTPC is an indicator of the dynamism of the renewable energy market in India.
By aiming for rapid execution of this project and integrating the latest wind power technologies, NTPC and Suzlon are sending out a strong signal to investors and other players in the sector.
This project could serve as a model for future initiatives, as India seeks to strengthen its capabilities in the field of alternative energies.
