Suzlon will install 100 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a capacity of 3 MW, in the Indian state of Karnataka. This project is part of the tender won under the SECI auction (tranche XIV) and aims to supply electricity to around 2.47 lakh homes while reducing CO2 emissions by almost 9.75 lakh tonnes per year. The wind turbines, part of Suzlon’s 3 MW product series, will be equipped with hybrid tubular lattice towers (HLT).
Apraava Energy’s partnership and commitment
Apraava Energy, a company jointly owned by CLP Group and CDPQ, is committed to contributing to India’s energy transition goals. The wind project in Karnataka is aligned with the highest operational standards and benefits from Suzlon’s expertise and experience in indigenous wind solutions.
Suzlon Technology and Services
Suzlon will supply the wind turbines and supervise the project, including commissioning. The company will also provide full post-commissioning maintenance. Suzlon turbines use proven dual-feed induction generator (DFIG) technology, effectively integrating wind turbines into the electrical grid.
Environmental and economic impact of the project
The 300 MW wind power project will help increase the share of renewable energies in India’s energy mix and support the country’s efforts to meet its decarbonization targets. By generating clean electricity, the project will help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote sustainable economic growth.
Suzlon’s new wind power project for Apraava Energy in Karnataka represents an important milestone in the development of renewable energies in India, illustrating the effectiveness of partnerships in the realization of large-scale green energy projects.
