SUNOTEC, a European player in integrated solar solutions, and Sungrow, a global provider of storage systems and photovoltaic inverters, formalise a strategic cooperation for 2.4 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Bulgaria. This partnership includes the installation of several infrastructures across the country, positioning these projects among the most significant in Southeast Europe in terms of energy storage capacity.

Projects supported by the national RESTORE programme

Part of the developed portfolio will benefit from funds allocated by the national RESTORE support programme, aimed at promoting energy storage and modernising the electricity grid. SUNOTEC relies on Sungrow to supply the PowerTitan 2.0 solution, recognised in international markets for its industrial-scale applications. Other equipment, such as the SG350HX-20 string inverter and Sungrow’s MVS system, will also be integrated for a hybrid project combining photovoltaic solar and energy storage.

This agreement marks a first for the deployment of Sungrow’s battery technology in Bulgaria, strengthening SUNOTEC’s strategy to integrate flexible and smart energy solutions into its solar infrastructures. The stated objective is to improve energy management and increase grid stability.

Strengthening renewable energy integration

The planned 2.4 GWh storage capacity will contribute to grid stability, enhanced integration of renewable energy, and improved reliability of the solar parks developed by SUNOTEC in the country and at the European level. Sungrow teams, present in Central Europe, Southeast Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), will deploy storage technology in partnership with SUNOTEC, thus meeting strict requirements for timelines and cost optimisation.

Completion of these projects is expected to enable Bulgaria to strengthen its role in the regional energy sector while increasing storage capacity available for large-scale solar installations. This technological deployment paves the way for significant development of electricity infrastructure in Southeast Europe.

The alliance between SUNOTEC and Sungrow demonstrates the growing importance of energy storage as a key lever for performance and competitiveness of electrical networks, in response to rising sector needs and regional energy markets.
