Statkraft France has been awarded a new ground-mounted photovoltaic project with a capacity of 15.5 megawatts-peak (MWc) located in Mourmelon-le-Grand, in the Marne department. The project was selected as part of the eighth round of the tender launched by the Commission de régulation de l’énergie (CRE) for ground-mounted solar power plants.

Reinforced presence in the Grand Est region

This new success brings to four the number of projects won by the French subsidiary of the Norwegian group Statkraft under CRE’s “ground-mounted plants” tenders over the past twelve months. With the Mourmelon-le-Grand site, Statkraft France now totals nearly 70 MWc awarded since autumn 2024, consolidating its position among the active developers in the French photovoltaic sector.

The total volume awarded during this eighth round reached 971 MWc, spread across 165 projects nationwide. This distribution reflects a high level of competition and the market’s ability to deliver financially viable projects while meeting the regulatory criteria set by the state.

Strong momentum in tenders

The three other projects awarded to Statkraft France include a 14 MWc ground-mounted solar plant in Châtenoy, a 27.3 MWc site in La Chapelle-Montmartin, and a 10.6 MWc agrivoltaic project in Valdivienne. These projects illustrate Statkraft’s targeted deployment strategy in rural or peri-urban areas offering favourable land access.

With this series of awards, Statkraft France demonstrates its ability to meet the technical and economic requirements imposed by national tenders, in a context of increasing development of ground-mounted solar projects.

Locally integrated projects and industrial replication

The company develops highly replicable projects, relying on a standardised approach to its plants while adapting each application to local constraints. The Mourmelon-le-Grand project is part of this industrial logic.

“Mourmelon-le-Grand is a strong example of our solar ambition in France,” stated Sébastien Darche, Director of Development and Operations at Statkraft France, adding that this new success “illustrates our ability to propose competitive, locally integrated projects that bring value to the territories.”
