Spain: Ekienea solar plant worth €90M obtains preliminary authorization
Iberdrola España and its partners reach a decisive milestone for their photovoltaic project in the Basque Country. The Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition has issued preliminary administrative authorization for this facility planned at 155 GWh/year.

The Ekienea project, presented as the future largest photovoltaic plant in the Spanish Basque Country, has obtained preliminary administrative authorization from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. This decision marks a key milestone for the consortium led by Iberdrola España, a subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group in Spain. According to project developers, commissioning is scheduled for 2027.
