Sonnedix acquires 300MW of solar

Sonnedix announces the acquisition of five photovoltaic projects developed by Lightsource bp in the UK. The renewable energy producer secures a 300 MW portfolio from the world’s leading solar power project manager.

Solar photovoltaic projects in the UK

Barring any setbacks, these five projects are expected to be commissioned during 2024. These acquisitions will allow Sonnedix to strengthen its presence in the UK market. In particular, by serving as a platform to support its global and European presence.

The projects, located in various regions of the country, are expected to generate approximately 300 GWh of clean energy. This is equivalent to supplying approximately 84,500 homes and avoiding the emission of more than 57,000 tons of CO2. The financial terms of the sale have not yet been disclosed.

This acquisition adds to a global development pipeline of 5GW overseen by Sonnedix in Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom.

The CEO of Sonnedix; Axel Thiemann spoke on the subject:

Sonnedix conquers the UK market

With this agreement, Sonnedix will reach 500 MWp in the UK, making the country one of its main markets in Europe. Thus, the company has the ambition to conquer the British market but also to become one of its leading companies in terms of solar energy.
