Solar FlexRack announces the delivery of FlexTrack solar trackers for a 42MW portfolio to a solar community in Illinois. Buyer Summit Ridge Energy is a major owner-operator of solar assets.

Community solar projects

Solar FlexRack delivers FlexTrack solar trackers. The fourteen community solar projects are part of “Illinois Shines”, a state-run program. It encourages the development of solar projects for small businesses and homeowners.

The portfolio of community solar projects provides affordable, renewable energy to local communities. It also makes a significant contribution to the state’s goals. Indeed, it wants to achieve 100% clean energy by 2050.

Illinois state pays attention to solar projects

The Illinois Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), signed into law in September 2021, allows for the installation of these projects. It authorizes the purchase of renewable energy certificates (RECs) from owners of solar panels. At least 250MW of new community solar projects are already benefiting from this program.

Once completed, these projects will allow approximately 35,000 families to reduce their electricity bills without installing solar panels. Raj Soi, executive vice president of operations at Summit Ridge Energy, announces:

“We are excited to work with Solar FlexRack on these projects, given their engineering expertise and reliable partnership. With more than 250 MW of clean energy assets online or in development in Illinois, we are proud of our leadership in the state and look forward to continuing to provide more affordable and reliable clean energy to local communities.”

These projects are also contributing to one of the biggest years for solar energy in Illinois history.

An international development

The state’s renewable energy sector plans to build more than 8,400 rooftop solar projects. In addition, Illinois wants to increase its workforce by 50 percent by the end of 2022. The company has completed more than 3GW of solar rack installations in over 40 states and around the world.

Greg Lewis, Director of Sales, Eastern U.S., at Solar FlexRack states:

“Summit Ridge Energy is a leader in renewable energy in Illinois and we are excited to have the opportunity to work with their team to cost-effectively deploy a large number of high-quality community solar projects in the state.”

Solar FlexRack offers comprehensive services, including engineering and geotechnical services. In addition, the group provides pull-out and layout testing services to meet actual project site conditions.
