Major oil companies are expanding their energy portfolios as pressure for decarbonization intensifies. Shell, Eni and Enbridge are among the groups that have made renewable energy a cornerstone of their long-term strategy. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the share of renewables in meeting global electricity demand should grow steadily through 2050. Most analysts expect that demand for oil and natural gas will not disappear entirely.
