Seaway 7 announces the signing of a letter of award with Moray offshore Windfarm allowing work to begin on Moray West.
Seaway 7 participates in Moray West
Seaway 7, with this letter of award, is for the installation of submarine power cables. They will connect the Moray West offshore wind farm to the coast. Located in the United Kingdom, on the east coast of Scotland, the project is one of the largest in the area.
With 60 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 882 MW, this letter of award is a boon for Seaway 7. In fact, the company made its debut in renewable energy in 2009 with the installation of a wind foundation in the UK. Since then, she has worked in Europe, but also in Taiwan and the United States.
Power on in 2024
Negotiations are still underway to define Seaway 7’s place in this project. However, the company could, after negotiations, manage the supply and installation of approximately 125 km of 66kV submarine power cables. In addition, the company could also be in charge of the cable protection systems.
The ships, directed from the company’sAberdeen offices, will begin laying the cables in 2024. In addition, a contract for difference with the British government accompanied the award letter. Thus, in the next few months, the final points of the contract will allow the power to be turned on in 2024.
