San Pedro, an onshore wind farm in Chile officially joins Engie Chile’s renewable energy portfolio.

A 31-turbine wind farm

San Pedro is located in the province of Chiloé in the region of Los Lagos. In September, Engie Chile announced its intention to acquire the wind farm. Finally, the company announces that the process is complete and that it is now officially integrating the park into its portfolio.

The San Pedro I and II wind farms occupy 1112 hectares. Currently in operation, they have 31 wind turbines with an installed capacity of 101MW. In addition, a project in development of up to approximately 151MW is under consideration.

Multiple participations

With the acquisition of San Pedro, the French company integrates for the first time a wind power plant in southern Chile. Thus, Engie Chile reinforces the diversification of renewable energy sources. Rosaline Corinthien, CEO of Engie Chile, says:

“This news marks a precedent in Engie’s history in Chile. We have opened a new path as a company developing in the south of the country. The production of clean, safe and reliable energy allows us to work hand in hand, respecting the environment.”

Engie Chile is one of the most important electricity producers in Chile (fourth nationally). In fact, the company has nearly 2200MW of installed capacity. In addition, it has a stake in the transportation sector, with nearly 3,000 kilometers of lines in service.
