Rubis Photosol wins an impressive 257 MWp of photovoltaic projects in France, thanks to a call for tenders issued by the French Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). This success will enable the construction of a 200 MWp wind farm on the former Creil air base, marking a record since calls for tenders began in France in 2011.

Among these projects, the Creil power plant, which will be the second largest in France, will produce the equivalent of the annual consumption of 85,000 households.

Leadership in Photovoltaic Power Generation

In the “ground-mounted power plants” category, Rubis Photosol won 17% of the 1,519 MWp awarded for the fourth period of the ERC call for tenders. These projects will go into construction between 2024 and 2025, reinforcing Rubis Photosol’s position as a leader in photovoltaic electricity production in France.

Creil Photovoltaic Project

The Creil project, initiated in 2019 via a call for expressions of interest (AMI) supported by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, will see the conversion of land at the former Creil military base in the Oise region, totaling 253 hectares unused since 2016. Rubis Photosol is developing this 200 MWp project on 147 hectares of land, making it the largest installation under the French Ministry of Defence’s “Place au Soleil” plan. The plant will produce 188 GWh annually, contributing to the national objectives of the Multiannual Energy Plan and to the Hauts-de-France region’s ambition to develop solar energy. Investment in the plant is estimated at around 130 million euros.

Deployment in Spain

In line with its development strategy in Spain, Rubis Photosol has announced the acquisition of three ready-to-build projects in the Alicante region, which will produce the equivalent of the annual consumption of 20,000 households when they come on stream in the second half of 2025. In addition, the pipeline of projects under development in Spain totals 300 MWp. Rubis Photosol thus strengthens its leading position in France and accelerates its deployment in Europe.

The Rubis Group and Renewable Energies

Clarisse Gobin-Swiecznik, Managing Director of Rubis, comments: “These projects illustrate the Group’s strategy of expanding into renewable energy production to reach at least 25% of its gross operating income by 2030. These successes reward the expertise of our teams and testify to the competitiveness of Rubis Photosol in these markets of the future. We are delighted with these new advances, which will help to make the Rubis group a major player in renewable energy in Europe.”
