Alingsås Energi, a global renewable energy company, is partnering with SCR, a large-scale energy storage developer, to deliver the first large-scale battery project in Alingsås Municipality. This 17 MW/17 MWh storage facility marks the second collaborative project between RES and SCR, following the successful development of the Elektra storage project in Landskrona.

The project will be located in Alingsås, on land owned by Alingsås Energi and in close proximity to one of Alingsås Energi’s substations. With the significant growth in demand for electricity from businesses and residences in Alingsås, the battery will be able to help meet the challenge of managing electricity supply and demand.

Connection to the network in 2024

The battery project is currently under development and is expected to reach its final status and be connected to the Alingsås grid by mid-2024. This installation will strengthen the local grid and improve the stability of the power supply in the region.

Drawing on RES’ expertise in renewable energy and SCR’s experience in developing energy storage solutions, this joint project will contribute to Alingsås’ energy transition by promoting the integration of renewable energy sources into the local power grid.

The collaboration between RES and SCR demonstrates the ongoing commitment of both companies to develop innovative solutions to the challenges of providing clean, reliable electricity. This new initiative will mark an important step in the development of large-scale energy storage capacity in Sweden, and will contribute to the country’s sustainability and carbon reduction goals.
