Plug Power and Olin Corporation announce the launch of a joint venture to build a hydrogen production plant. This plant will have a production capacity of 15 tons of hydrogen per day and will be located in Louisiana.

An ambitious partnership

Plug Power and Olin Corporation will install the new hydrogen plant in St. Louis. Gabriel, Louisiana. Thus, ithis joint venture will be called Hidrogenii. In addition, the plant will benefit from national and local tax subsidies.

This partnership brings together Plug Power, leader in hydrogen solutions, and Olin Corporation, a producer of electrolytic hydrogen in the United States. Plug Power will be the exclusive hydrogen distributor for the joint venture. In turn, Olin Corporation will provide a reliable supply of hydrogen and operational expertise.

Development of renewable hydrogen

Scott Sutton, president and CEO of Olin Corporation, said:

“The venture advances our commitment to transform Olin’s hydrogen business into a value stream as we seek to increase the value of our 150,000 metric tons of annual hydrogen production capacity.”

The construction of the plant will create 160 jobs in 2022 and 215 jobs in 2023. In addition, the plant is expected to create a total of more than 25 permanent, full-time jobs in Louisiana.

The Hidrogenii joint venture aims to meet the growing demand for renewable hydrogen. For example, the St. Louis plant has a Gabriel joins Plug Power’s growing national network of hydrogen plants. In addition, the company will produce 500 tons per day of liquid renewable hydrogen by 2025 and up to 1,000 tons by the year 2028.
