Qair, a major player in the renewable energy sector, and Corio Generation, a specialist in offshore wind energy development, have announced their partnership to submit a development bid for the “South Atlantic” and “Centre Manche 2” offshore wind projects. The consortium, called Energies du Méridien, has been pre-selected by the Directorate General for Energy and Climate to participate in the competitive dialogue procedure. The objective of these projects is to build and operate offshore wind farms with an installed capacity ranging from 900 MW to 1,050 MW for “Sud Atlantique” and from 1,400 MW to 1,600 MW for “Centre Manche 2”. In this press article, we will examine the details of this partnership and its importance for the French offshore wind industry.
The potential of the French offshore wind industry
Energies du Méridien is convinced of the potential of the French offshore wind industry and wishes to participate in its development. The tenders for the “South Atlantic” and “Centre Manche 2” offshore wind farms are a key step towards achieving the French objective of 40 GW of offshore wind power by 2050 and thus contributing to the diversification of the French energy mix.
Strengthening of the sector in the regions of Nouvelle-Aquitaine/Pays de la Loire and Normandy
Qair and Corio Generation have started to involve regional actors in a project development process aiming at both strengthening the local economy and allowing the territories to fully benefit from the positive spin-offs of these floating wind farms. These projects allow
