German manufacturer Nordex Group has announced it has secured a 34.2 megawatt (MW) order from Spanish energy producer Grupo Enhol for the repowering of the Caparroso wind farm, located in Navarre. The project includes the installation of six N163/5.X turbines and marks another step in the long-standing partnership between the two companies.
A project backed by the EU recovery plan
The contract is part of the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, established in 2021. The project is funded through Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, under the broader NextGenerationEU initiative. Installation works are scheduled to begin in July 2026, with commissioning expected by February 2027.
Project components will be produced locally: towers, blades and nacelles will be manufactured in Spain, while hubs and drive train components will be assembled in Germany. This industrial approach reflects EU requirements aimed at strengthening regional production within the energy supply chain.
A recurring industrial partnership in the region
The contract with Grupo Enhol follows previous collaborations between the two firms in Navarre, including the Abilitas (41.6 MW), Cabanillas (56.5 MW), and Pestriz (52.8 MW) wind farms. Nordex will also provide a premium maintenance service for 20 years, aiming to optimise long-term energy output.
The Caparroso project represents a new phase in the modernisation of ageing wind infrastructure in Spain. According to available data, this repowering effort will help maximise energy performance in the region, supported by advanced technologies and increased production capacity.
