Neoen, through its subsidiary Shift Solar Inc. has won a competitive 380 MW contract fromOntario‘s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). This 20-year contract will provide essential additional capacity to meet the province’s growing electricity needs. Grey Owl Storage, the battery assigned to this project, will have a total capacity of 400 MW / 1,600 MWh. It will be located in the municipality of Arran-Elderslie, Bruce County, Ontario.

Impact on network stability and reliability

This new installation will enable energy to be charged during off-peak hours and redistributed to the grid at peak times. This optimized energy management is crucial to the stability and reliability of Ontario’s power grid.

Neoen: Rapid and ambitious expansion

With the addition of Grey Owl Storage, Neoen confirms its ambition to become a key player in Canada. This project is not only the largest in Neoen’s portfolio in Canada, but also the second largest in the country. Emmanuel Pujol, CEO of Neoen Americas, expressed his enthusiasm for this significant step forward. He emphasizes the importance of this development for Neoen’s overall strategy in Ontario and Canada.

Capacity building and long-term vision

Neoen continues to expand with a well-established strategy of developing renewable energy and storage projects across Canada. This approach is reinforced by a growing presence in key provinces such as Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. Neoen’s Chairman and CEO, Xavier Barbaro, hailed this new achievement as proof of Neoen’s ability to meet the challenges of the energy transition with innovative and competitive solutions.
