Oil and gas operator Maurel & Prom (M&P) has officially acquired a 40% stake in the Sinu-9 gas permit in Colombia. This transaction follows the letter of intent signed with NG Energy International on January 19, 2025. The definitive agreement allows M&P to immediately participate in the development and exploration operations of this block.

A strategic asset for the Colombian market

The Sinu-9 permit is located in a key area for natural gas production in Colombia. It holds significant potential, and the existing partners have successfully brought the asset to an initial production phase. This acquisition enables M&P to strengthen its position in the country while contributing to Colombia’s energy security.

Regional expansion for Maurel & Prom

Olivier de Langavant, Chief Executive Officer of Maurel & Prom, emphasized the importance of this operation for the company’s growth strategy in Latin America. The collaboration with NG Energy International extends across the ongoing work program, with M&P teams immediately joining efforts in the project’s development.

A rapidly evolving gas market

The Colombian natural gas market is experiencing strong momentum, with growing demand and a need for investments to develop production and transportation infrastructure.
