Lhyfe and AREC Occitanie launch the 3rd green hydrogen production site

The project, supported by Lhyfe (80%) and AREC Occitanie (20%), will decarbonize freight and passenger transport in the region. With a production capacity of 2 tons of green hydrogen per day, this plant will contribute to the realization of the "Corridor H2 Occitanie" project.

Lhyfe and AREC Occitanie launch the construction of the Lhyfe Occitanie production unit. Located in Bessières (Haute-Garonne), this green and renewable hydrogen production plant should be operational by the end of 2023. It will be able to produce up to 2 tons of green hydrogen per day.

A site to meet the region’s decarbonization goal.

This project is part of the “Corridor H2 Occitanie” project aimed at decarbonizing freight and passenger transport in the region. The Occitanie Region is supporting this project with 5.9 million euros and aims to deploy by the end of 2024 2 renewable hydrogen production units representing 6 tons per day of cumulative production at start-up, 7 hydrogen distribution stations, 40 hydrogen-powered trucks, 62 trailers with refrigeration units and 15 retrofitted regional intercity buses.

Meeting the needs of heavy mobility

Lhyfe Occitanie will also be able to meet the green and renewable hydrogen needs of the region’s manufacturers, transporters and local authorities. Carole Delga, President of the Occitanie Region, is delighted with the initiative and stresses that heavy mobility is one of the greatest challenges of the energy transition. Cédric Maurel, Mayor of Bessières, is also pleased with this project, which contributes to decarbonization in the heart of the territories.
