Jones Power, a company renowned for its high standards and Power Forward apprenticeship program, has been selected by Babcock & Wilcox Solar Energy (B&W Solar) to carry out the civil construction of two 25 MW utility-scale solar projects in Western Pennsylvania, USA. Construction began in March 2024 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2024. Jones Power’s tasks include erosion control, land clearing, construction of driveways, culverts, stone access roads, stone storage yards, final seeding and post-civil maintenance of the site.

Importance of projects

These solar projects aim to provide clean, zero-carbon energy to the people of Western Pennsylvania.

Tony Dorazio, president of B&W Solar, said, “These renewable energy projects will bring clean, zero-carbon energy to the people of Pennsylvania. We are delighted to have Jones Power as a partner in bringing these projects to fruition.”

Jones Power will also be able to maintain a post-civil maintenance team on site during the subsequent stages of construction, providing support services such as erosion control, dust management and mowing, right through to project completion.

Expertise and commitment

Jones Power, founded in 2011, specializes in logistics and construction services for the energy industry, with a focus on renewables and the downstream oil and gas sector. The company is renowned for its commitment to excellence and decades of experience in every project.

John Clark, CEO of Jones Power, expressed his enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to be taking on these challenges with B&W Solar. We have a strong track record of experience in the Mid-Atlantic region, and we’re excited to help bring more renewable solar energy to the people of Western Pennsylvania.”

Impact and outlook

These projects underline Pennsylvania’s growing commitment to renewable energy. They represent an important step towards reducing carbon emissions and the transition to clean, sustainable energy. The collaboration between Jones Power and B&W Solar illustrates the importance of strong partnerships in the realization of large-scale renewable energy projects.
