The Ulan Buh Desert in China is undergoing an ambitious energy transformation, marked by the development of the Northeast New Energy Base. With a planned capacity of 12 GW, this project stands as one of the most significant initiatives to boost wind and solar energy production in the country. JA Solar, a leading player in the photovoltaic (PV) industry, recently delivered 1 GW of n-type PV modules for the pilot phase of this initiative.

The pilot project, a strategic milestone in the implementation of this energy base, benefitted from JA Solar’s advanced PV modules. These modules, designed to deliver high performance in harsh climate conditions, were delivered within just 180 days, showcasing the company’s ability to address complex logistical demands. Monthly volumes peaked at over 400 MW, supported by consistent transport flows with daily peaks reaching 80 truckloads.

A strategic energy base for China

The importance of this energy base goes beyond the scope of the pilot project. Designed to become a major renewable energy hub, it plays a crucial role in China’s efforts to diversify its energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. With 12 GW of combined planned capacity for wind and solar energy, this initiative illustrates the country’s commitment to energy transition.

JA Solar ensured the delivery of n-type PV modules, which stand out for their enhanced efficiency and durability. These advanced technical features make them well-suited for large-scale projects like Ulan Buh, where environmental conditions demand robust performance.

Mastery of logistics and rapid execution

Efficient management of delivery schedules was a key factor in the success of this operation. By ensuring an on-time delivery schedule despite the size and complexity of the project, JA Solar demonstrated its expertise in handling large-scale initiatives. The company also optimized its logistical processes, ensuring seamless coordination between production, transport, and module installation.

Aiqing Yang, Executive President of JA Solar, emphasized that this project reflects the company’s ability to adapt to the needs of complex initiatives while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability. This achievement reinforces JA Solar’s position as a key supplier in the renewable energy sector.
