Island Green Power has initiated a new consultation phase focusing on design adjustments for its East Pye solar and battery storage project, located in South Norfolk, eastern England. The project is set to deliver a combined capacity of 500MW, integrating photovoltaic generation and electricity storage on a large site.
Technical modifications to ease the construction phase
This consultation addresses 26 localised changes made following the second statutory consultation held earlier this year. Most adjustments aim to optimise site access during construction and ensure the safe delivery of heavy loads. Further changes were made to the location and size of the project’s substation.
Local feedback integrated into the planning process
Island Green Power stated that feedback collected during the previous consultation phase helped identify several areas for improvement. These contributions were considered to adapt the project before submitting the Development Consent Order (DCO) application, expected in early 2026. The developer aims to balance technical requirements with remarks raised by residents and local stakeholders.
A key step before regulatory review
The consultation period will run for five weeks until 26 November. This phase is part of the preparatory process ahead of the formal review by competent authorities, as required for large-scale energy infrastructure projects in the United Kingdom.
Samantha Jones, project development manager at Island Green Power, said the company hoped these updated designs would respond to the feedback received locally.
