Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. has officially commissioned its Boswell Springs wind farm, located in Wyoming, United States. This strategic project, with a production capacity of 320 MW, will supply PacifiCorp, one of the leading electricity providers in the western United States, under a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

Through this agreement, PacifiCorp secures a competitive energy source, supporting its long-term supply strategy. This approach reflects the growing interest in PPA contracts within the energy sector, fostering stable commitments between producers and electricity distributors.

An Infrastructure and Contractual Approach

To deliver the electricity produced, Innergex invested in a dedicated 34.5-mile (55 km) transmission line with a capacity of 230 kV. This infrastructure efficiently connects the wind farm to the interconnection point, enhancing the robustness of the electricity supply for end consumers served by PacifiCorp.

The 30-year agreement between Innergex and PacifiCorp represents a typical model of commercial partnership in the energy sector. These contracts ensure predictable financial flows and facilitate the development of complex infrastructures while providing better visibility to investors.

A Long-Term Energy Strategy

For PacifiCorp, integrating the electricity produced by Boswell Springs is part of a global strategy to diversify its energy portfolio. The company, which serves more than two million customers in six U.S. states, aims to meet growing demand while optimizing its supply costs.

For Innergex, this project confirms its ability to execute large-scale projects in competitive markets while maintaining strict cost and schedule management. The Boswell Springs project highlights the importance of investing in suitable infrastructure to secure energy distribution, a central element for energy market players.
