In Greece, Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) announces the acquisition of a majority stake in a BESS project.

A national project

In Greece, Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, part of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, acquires a 600MW BESS. Indeed, the portfolio is divided into several facilities under development by the Greek company Wootis. In addition, it is the largest battery energy storage system under development in the country.

The project in question is divided into several sites throughout Greece. All sites are expected to become operational between the last quarter of 2023 and the second quarter of 2024. In addition, Fotowatio Renewable Ventures and Wootis also agree to collaborate on new developments in the country.

An integrated service

“FRV’s arrival in Greece with Wootis is a good example of the company’s international expansion plans, which to date has built more than 50 renewable energy generation plants in countries such as Spain, Australia, Mexico, Uruguay, Chile, Italy, India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Jordan, and is preparing new projects to be launched soon in other markets.”

Wootis SA specializes in asset management, offering integrated services for the operation of renewable energy plants. In addition, the company also provides maintenance and operation (O&M) services to wind and photovoltaic plants.

Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, on the other hand, is committed to ensuring a more sustainable energy model around the world. According to the company, Greece has shown remarkable commitment. Indeed, Athens aims to double the country’s renewable energy capacity by 2030.
