It will produce electricity for the grid corresponding to the annual consumption of about 13,000 households. The whole park includes two solar farms with a total capacity of 71MW and two wind farms with a total capacity of 39.6MW. Thus, the combination of sun and wind ensures a stable production.

Support for local communities

Ian Wallentin, manager of the Holmen II solar park, says:

“Since 2017, we have been working on the development of an energy park in Holmen, in the municipality of Ringkøbing-Skjern, and we are very happy to have connected the last part of the energy park to the grid.”

European Energy contributed several million Danish kroner to the green fund of the municipality of Ringkøbing-Skjern through these projects. In addition, agreements were made with local civic associations.

As a result, they will receive a support amount each year during the operation of the parks. Ole Knudsen, chairman of the technical and environmental committee of Ringkøbing-Skjern municipality, says:

“This project is part of the 1,000 hectares of solar, for which the municipal council of Ringkøbing-Skjern has already developed a local plan. The municipality of Ringkøbing-Skjern is therefore always at the forefront of the ecological conversion of our electricity system – both solar and wind. It is gratifying that this facility can already provide green energy in 2022.”

In this way, the payments will benefit the local community in the form of projects and activities in the Danish municipality.
