The recent announcement of a partnership between Lhyfe and HYmpulsion marks a significant step forward in the decarbonization effort in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. From 2025, Lhyfe will supply HYmpulsion with 1.6 tonnes of green, renewable hydrogen per day for a decade. This initiative is part of the Zero Emission Valley project.

Green Hydrogen: Key to Energy Transition

Green hydrogen, produced by electrolysis of water using renewable energies, represents a clean alternative to grey hydrogen, often derived from fossil sources. Lhyfe plans to build a production plant at Le Cheylas, capable of generating 2 tonnes of hydrogen per day. This site will contribute to the reindustrialization of the region and its transition to a sustainable economy.

Zero Emission Valley: An Ambitious Regional Project

Lhyfe’s commitment goes beyond hydrogen production. The company is positioning itself as a key player in the energy transition, with several sites under construction across Europe. In 2021, Lhyfe inaugurated the world’s first industrial green hydrogen production site connected directly to a wind farm, followed by a first offshore pilot production platform in 2022.

Major innovations in hydrogen production

The Zero Emission Valley project, led by HYmpulsion with partners including the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, ENGIE, Michelin, Crédit Agricole and Banque des Territoires, aims to develop a complete clean mobility ecosystem. The project involves the production, storage and distribution of green hydrogen, and the provision of hydrogen-powered vehicles. The partnership with Lhyfe strengthens HYmpulsion’s ability to power its hydrogen stations, contributing to its goal of making the region a carbon-neutral territory on a European scale.
Thierry Raevel, Chairman of HYmpulsion and Regional Director of ENGIE, emphasizes the importance of this partnership in meeting the challenges of decarbonizing mobility, improving air quality and creating local jobs. Matthieu Guesné, founder and CEO of Lhyfe, expresses his pride at being part of this ambitious regional project.

This partnership between Lhyfe and HYmpulsion is an important milestone in the quest for clean, sustainable mobility. Indeed, it demonstrates the commitment of these players to innovate and collaborate for an efficient and responsible energy transition.
